It was a real eucalyptus summer

It was a real eucalyptus summer

The summer of 2022 will go down in the books as the driest in 500 years.
In general is this of course not a good message at all, but for the eucalyptuses this extreme drought is not a problem at all.
They have even made a huge growth spurt and, with one exception, all of them are blooming abundantly again.
The latter is of course very nice because it means that plenty of seed can be harvested again in the autumn.

International Nursery Days Bingerden

International Nursery Days Bingerden

On 17, 18 and 19 June you can find us in a booth during the International Nursery Days on the Bingerden estate in Bingerden.
The theme of this weekend is ‘Growing for the future’. With eucalyptus you plant a tree that can easily cope with the changing climate in the Netherlands. Eucalyptus is able to absorb water quickly during heavy rainfall and is also resistant to extreme drought in summer.
Moreover, because it is an evergreen tree, eucalyptus is able to store co2 all year round. Come and visit us, we will also offer many other plants in addition to eucalyptus. If you have a wish or an order, we will of course take it along. You can indicate this via Whattsapp (0641156392) or the contact form on the website

Exotische Plantenbeurs

Eucalyptus is not a houseplant

Eucalyptus is not a houseplant

I am regularly asked which eucalyptus species is suitable for indoor use. To be clear, I grow eucalyptus for a cold climate and it is a tree that can grow quite large. Now I see a lot of advice and advertising on the internet and in garden programs claiming that you could also keep eucalyptus indoors. This is also regularly mentioned on the plant label.

My personal opinion on this is that this is absolutely untrue as far as the species (often an “ordinary” gunnii) that are offered. These are sales pitches that ultimately end in disappointment for you as a customer. If you want to keep a eucalyptus indoors, you will eventually have to seek advice from a specialist about which species could possibly be suitable for this and take into account that such a plant requires attention to make this successful.
